I talked with Parker/Racor technical support on some related questions, and they recommend putting the pump after the filter if you are also trying to remove water. The reason being, according to the person I spoke with, when the fuel goes thru the pump it tends to emulsify any water which will tend to go through the filter rather than being captured by the filter.
You know a lot more about this than me, but I thought I'd pass along this comment. Sounds like there are pros and cons to each method, as much of what you wrote made sense - at least as far as I could understand it
Thank you again for your advice. I am going to go with a more robust polishing system than the small Parker that I originally asked about thanks to your comments.
