I"ve found the SailoMat as capable as the Aires Lift up (we too had one on a WS 32). However I lost the Oar on a leg to Bonaire. Stupid me and damn manual. Wasn't in the final checks and I thought some cleaver engineer had made it fail safe. DUMB DUMB DUMB! However, SailoMat has a double for the wheel. You can I think see it on pics on their website and I'm not sure if you can get the manual on line or not. If not I can send you the pics of my setup. Basically you you double the pull of the line to the wheel with blocks. There is more then enough power to turn the wheel if it is adjusted properly. I've found some boats have the control wires on their units so tight no vane will steer them. I read years ago that Ted Hood had put a 6 lb weight on the end of a wheel and expected it to turn the wheel. So I basically did that and viola! Never a dropped wire on a sheeve and the vane works much better.
Good Luck, Hope too to share an anchorage someday. Glad you're gettin someting from the blog.
