No difference in this app between 316 and 316L...

the "L" stands for low carbon. You need it if you are going to weld it, as the carbon causes carbide precipitation in the heat affected zone, which will be more brittle and corrosion prone. However the strengths of the metals are otherwise the same, the costs pretty much the same, and many suppliers have only metal certified to both standards, referred to as 316/316L.
