You have torque issues (even if the sail doesn't have that bigg a hoist ('P'). Batt slides can help with that a lot. (There's a cost issue, but if you're getting a full main, you might consider it.
I don't like the metal slides if you're going to be torquing them with the full battens -- they tend to bind, and sometimes, mess-up the track.
Your sailmaker can probably do a work-around with double slides at the battens and create a "synthetic" batt slide's flexiblity?
