• What kind of slides does your mainsail use?
  • UV eventually gets plastic slugs. Metal ones slide easier....

  • I have metal slides in a metal track. I think these are outdated though.
    • Had bronze track and bronze slides on one boat, slid beautifully.
      • Yeah. Truth is, I'm too lazy to tape. Varnish gums them up for a few hoists, then they're fine.

      • Gene - Were the slides that broke at the full length battens?
        • Yes, at the battens and down low
          • Did they break at the conjunction of the bale and the base?
          • Use straps that allow the batten to rotate without torquing the sail slides.
  • I replaced all of my slides
