A couple weeks ago I watched a bad sailor in a rented boat repeatedly crash into various docks... it was almost sad, but just humorous enough to be entertaining. Fortunately it was a small boat and he never got going fast, so I figure it was just scratches and chips.
This last weekend I was quite impressed by a sailor that launched off his dock with the jib, sailed out into the main basin, avoided all the floating obstacles (kayaks and paddleboards) raised the main, tacked a few times and brought the boat beautifully into the fuel dock. Heck he may have just gone there for bagels for all I know. His boat handling was outstanding. It was shear joy to watch. Poetry in motion.
To Tom, once again, great photos... you make me feel like I am there when I look at these. The lighting is just magical on that last pic especially. (the shadows of the sail hoops... wow!)
