We had a comical mooring experience securing ourselves in the inner harbor. There was a 15 knot cross wind and the mooring bouys had no lines on them, just the ring. We made 3 attempts making a complete ass of ourselves to all those on shore. Out of frustration we lowered the dink with a couple of mooring lines in it and sent it off to get the ball ready. When he had the line through and ready to toss it to the foredeck we approached and had no problem with it or securing the line to the boat from the rear ball.
Once we were settled we took the dink to the warf to a nice little bar where we were all handed free Colada's. The owner said it was for the great show the bar was given. After that we decided to make the dink procedure standard for any ball without a line attached.
Should have done that to begin with.
