I don't think you can blame gps, chartplotters, AIS, etc. Every few years, somebody slams into rocks around my harbors, sometimes in the harbors. Some have passed these same rocks dozens of times. Many get off with no damage(and often undetected), but some sink. And anytime a boat sinks, people can die.
Aren't the causes, inattention(no watch/sleeping, navigational error), the same today as they were a century ago?
