An interesting answer to a question I asked during a race briefing.

I was in a 'Captains Meeting', or whatever you call it before a race and they were giving out the GPS coordinates for the 'marks' on a race. The race organizer asked if there were any questions. I asked if there were any races on the west coast that didn't allow you to use a GPS and you had to actually navigate the course. The race organizer (or who ever he was called) said "why would you want to do that?" (in all seriousness he said that),,,,,

The captain of the boat I was to be on leaned in my ear and said "we need the GPS coordinates because if we didn't have them we'd get lost and need to be rescued". I had to muffle my laughter,,.

Always thought that was funny.

Of course, the Newport to Ensenada incident wasn't funny at all.
