... or the transit system App I was using was definitely off. I was using HopStop, when I would select "Current Location", the iPhone NEVER had me in the right spot. And therefore the directions HopStop gave were always incorrect, at least the initial steps, because my location was off. It was anywhere from several hundred feet or a couple of blocks off. ALWAYS, and I was using it a lot. I was surprised, maybe it's the tall buildings in NYC, because while I don't use the iPhone Maps that much for precise locations much if at all, I have not noticed this before.
But I will say, if this is the case with the iPhone Maps everywhere else and not the problem with the HopStop App software, not that I would, but I certainly would not want to be using my iPhone for any navigation in close quarters on a boat, weaving in & out of channel markers, shoals, reefs & other obstructions.
