The boat came with a nice little Standard Horizon 180i chart plotter. And my first thought is to leave the cover on most of the time and use traditional piloting skills...magnetic bearing compass, reference to paper charts, dead reckoning, land fixes. I have this fear of becoming over-reliant on technology which can, and probably will, fail at a critical moment. Definitely going to teach the younger crowd to ignore technology until they are comfortable determining their location and situation the old fashioned way....
