Oh, believe me... I'm thrilled to have the chart plotter and can't wait to use it. But I'm afraid of becoming over reliant on it.

I was warned by another sailor about the difficulties of determining where you are in the Maine Islands from sea level. I've been "flying" around Penobscot and Muscongus Bays on Google Earth and, even though I do it at 500ft, you still can cheat by seeing around the next bend or headland. So, it'll be a new and challenging experience.
