I forgot about that one, #3, the Yard knows you're a busy guy, with a job, and they know you're not about to mess with them if it means time away from making money at home, so they dig in their heels, you can't win even if they are negligent. The other thing I forgot to mention is this nasty little quirk in the maritime legal system called a maritime lien that they threaten you with. Very unfair if you ask me. They can simply lien the boat and forget about you until they get paid, or, if they really want to be assholes, which they are, they can arrest the vessel, ex parte, and you won't even know your boat is gone. And even if they don't arrest it, the fear they will is always there, they don't need any kind of judgement, really unfair. And to prove their lien is in bad faith is impossible, no matter how outrageous, as long as there was work performed. Doesn't matter if the lien is valid or not. Can I give you my list of Florida boat yards and contractors to hassle ?!? Cheers, John
