The usual refrig fans that I have seen is a simple "muffin" fan ( like a PC's ventilation fan).
I have never seen one with an inline fuse. I would think that it would run in reverse if you crossed the ground and positive leads.

Some refrig units used to convert DC to AC (like Grunert's old Versamatic). I trust that you have a direct connection to the DC side.
