I would say it is the first step up. I know when the computer is having a hard time in a Marina this will normally work. I have a 20 foot USB cable that allow me to raise the antenna above the deck which is the next step. If that does not work, it is a trip to the office and do E-net there ( in this case it is rare to find anyone that can get it on the boat).
