The Alpha is good but you need to also purchase a better antenna for it.

From my experience (we used the Alpha) using the antenna supplied isn't much better than not using it at all. We purchased an 8 DB stick antenna along with a 25' cable and duct taped it to a flag halyard raising it as high as the 25' allowed. When we moved I lowered the antenna and stowed it below.

If you do that it's really good.
