But it could make a big difference if the hull is metal, if the signal is already marginal or if you have any sheet metal or foil in the way. It's basically line of sight. Dense materials can also make a difference, such as stone walls. In buildings, older construction with heavy plaster and metal lathe makes it tough to go room to room. I don't know for fact but would assume metal flake paint might also make a difference.
