You may have to adjust the postion of the little antenna to avoid interference. I notice that you have different positions that a wi-fi can pick-up weaker signals from within only a few feet. That's the same for a Verizon Mi-Fi device, or even the PC internal wireless antenna, or a USB device. That's why an extenision cord may be helpful.

CAUTION: the voltage drop and quality of signal may be degraded if the extension cord is too long. Also, the power requirements of some of the USB devices can vary. The power comes from your PC's board which isn't very robust.
