Despite anchoring out quite a bit, I don't think I've used it but twice this year(most places we've anchored are secluded and or shallow-no traffic). I used it last weekend and usually put it under the dodger. But I realized the light is annoying there so I guess I'll have to start rigging it away from the companionway.
I can't find the wattage of the brighter bulb online but I stumbled on LED replacements for it. If we ever go cruising,....
My battery hogs are the AP and our reading lights. The incadescent old style bulbs draw 1 to 4 amps!(I have various wattage bulbs)! Juice hogs, but they are nice to read, cook by.
Still, 20 mile sail(AP and CP) and an overnight(cabin lights), we use maybe 10-15 amp hours? Life has gotten much easier now the kids aren't sailing with us with a couple laptops. Just an ipad onboard now, but it's not G3(?), so we can't get online unless in range of wifi. Sailing around here, I prefer not having the wifi, the boat is the only place I read these days.
