Hi Jon; What I like about Beaufort is..

the town. I've stopped at Masonboro, but there is essentially nothing there. While Beaufort is a longer run because of both the in and out, it is much more pleasant once one gets there. (You may recall that we had a nice dinner together in Beaufort in the late fall of 2007 when our paths crossed.) I was there last in very late October 2011. I'd single handed non-stop from Newport and the winds had gone South on me, so I stayed a couple of days until a good northerly came (remember that big November storm that caught some boats out?) I was still charming and I was entertained as I recuperated a bit before heading off non-stop to Miami. As I left it blew 30's for days but I was sailing off the wind with only the jib up, so it was a joyous ride. If pressed for time I can certainly see that Masonboro would make good sense.

Best regards,
Ron
