There shouldn't be much load on that brace under normal conditions
Looking at the fitting attaching the brace I would say compression and that is a guess.
A tube wouldn't bend like that under tension? If multiple choice, then compression.

simple answer really, replace it. It's just a piece of tubing which can't be too hard to find but please...
