But for me, a point and shoot fits the bill, as I'm not one to carry a camera bag or anything bulky. If it doesn't carry well in a pocket or lightweight belt pouch it's not likely to be there when I want to take a shot. I also like that Olympus STYLUS TG-2 iHS that you posted about a few days ago.
A larger camera such as an SLR or even a smaller mirrorless cam like the AW1 is just too bulky to leave the boat with me and won't be carried around. Also, I'm not selling my pictures nor even a serious amateur photog, so my pictures are just for memories or to share with family/friends, or post online here in reduced format. So a waterproof point and shoot with good video/image performance is ideal for sailing/beach/dinghy and general sights ashore.
