Yes, the phone cam is today's P&S

But for now I still want to carry a waterproof P&S (if not submersible, at least one that will shrug off splashes). I'm very reluctant to even answer my phone or text while in a dinghy or outside the cockpit of my larger boat, as I've lost a few phones to Neptune over the years (more than I care to admit). And an action shot like your fantastic photo of your daughter sitting at the lee rail is one I wouldn't risk with my phone or standard (non-weatherproof) P&S.

I have a Nikon Coolpix S9100 which is a very good travel cam with powerful zoom. That's my preferred cam for dry environments. I also own an older weatherproof P&S but that's due for an upgrade. That will be my preferred boat cam.
