Surfing 25 knots in reverse, isn't relevent to my point, Mark.

That's not going to happen. But it's very conceivable your boat could be forced into reverse enough for rudders to hit the stops at several knots of speed(my towing off a rock in reverse experience for instance). A new rudder frame structure can be easily designed and built to sustain that much force.

I remember checking out this new composite rudder. You just get a sense that a good builder has these forces well in mind with a rudder like this, or they won't be building them for long.

All the internet drama focuses on the people and their 'seamanship skills', there are few of us focused on the rudders.
