Yes Charlie--I do the same on every

major waypoint like the Portland sea buoy and R2 leading into Block Island --I place the waypoints an easy 1/2 mile away from any printed magenta line or sea lane. At least once a season I'm rewarded with deep fog, motoring at 4 kts,the boat on autopilot, because is steers straighter than I do and with me free to listen and keep glued to the radar and AIS knowing I'm at least not headed for disaster purposefully.
