When we made our first trip from Florida to Nassau in 2001 the Northwest Channel tower wasn't there. Only a temporary buoy with light and a piece of the old tower sticking out of the water. As the story goes, some large power yacht had set the auto pilot to the waypoint and crashed into it dumping it on the foredeck. With no way to get the monster tower off they took it to Nassau on the bow. It's been 13 years and I still don't think it's been replaced with anything resembling the old one.

Perhaps it was replace and is missing again. I was looking for an old story about it but only found some posts that are dated 2014.
