I think I get it, but just to be clear: I'm measuring voltage at both ends of the same "live" wire while it's under constant load? First end-to-end of positive conductor, then end-to-end of negative conductor, for the same (or each) circuit?

Does it matter how heavy the testing load is? e.g. milliamps vs. amps?
