I'm sure the non-variable speed ones are rugged
In Response To: happy Shurflo customer ()

Pretty much all of them from all brands are. The variable speed pumps are a different story, however. The web is full of complaints about their ruggedness. Shurflo has stopped making them altogether - which suggests that they just couldn't make them rugged enough. The Aquajet I linked to seems to be the only variable speed pump left where very few are having problems with them (at least in the RV world).

Yes, we can always go back to a regular non-variable speed pump, but there is a large difference between the two. The variable speed pumps are almost dead silent and give constant steady water pressure that instantly adjusts flow when other faucets are opened or you increase the flow of the faucet you are using.

Since our Shurflo went TU, I have reinstalled our original $400 Flojet/expansion tank system. Now we hear the pump working loudly, have water pressure that starts high, dips low until the pump kicks back in - repeat ad nauseum, and when another faucet is opened, the flow drops to almost nothing until the pump kicks back in.

We miss the variable speed pump.
