IMHO, it's not the movement, but the temperature. A decent red should be stored at 57 degrees F and a white about the same or lower. Ambient temp in a bilge, depending on the locale may be close to that so you might sneak through. It also depends on the duration of storage. As there is a plethora of good jars at price points between 10 and 20 bucks, it should be a cinch to reload at each landfall. Unless, of course, you're in the NW passage or Labrador.
There are commercial sleeves constructed of bubble wrap which not only protect a bottle but also seal shut so if the bottle were to break, you won't be facing a disappointed guest nor a mess with which to contend with!
