bottles. I used the back side of a slide out bunk that was never used and had the part of the cushion that was under the cabinet cut off. Now when I slide the bunk out instead of more cushion I expose a 10 slot rack that I made out of mahogany. The bottles lay flat in separate slots made to just fit standard sized bottles with a 1 and 1/2 inch hole cut into one end to accommodate the slightly longer bottles you end up with once in a while. I use corporine gasket material pads that I drop in next to the bottles to eliminate the bottles bumping back and forth. I didn't use teak because I didn't know if I was going to like it and cheeped out. It varnished up fine but it just doesn't match the rest of the interior. Nobody sees it anyway except when it's slid out to get at the wine so it's no big deal. The wine sits at just about water level and just over a water tank. We've never had anyone complain about the taste of our wine even in the heat of Mexico so I guess it was a success. That, together with our 5 gallon rum tank completes our provisioning for longer passages. Oh, we put some food on board as well.
