Cruising Sailors Forum Archive

I had a discussion with my liver and told it to buck up,

that's just the way it is. And yes, that's what I can do and not what I do. Actually, I've cut way down. The first couple of years cruising was pretty hard core but we settled down after a while. It was the same the first time out as well. After a while we started looking for the out of the way spots so people didn't come by and suck us into another night of it. In the old days, if you weren't in a major harbor, it was actually better because booze was harder to come by with less people cruising. Everyone stocked up on the liquor that was needed for their particular "Boat Drink". When you went to different boats you always knew what you were going to drink. You brought your first and the host provided the second and that was usually all their was because everyone knew how hard it was to restock. Once in a while you ran into someone who's mission was to put you under the table prior to your departure but not usually. Now it's even worse and depends completely on the people you decide to hang out with. I guess that's pretty true on land as well but it seems worse.
