Don't keep good wine aboard.
In Response To: keeping wine on a boat... ()

Onboard supplies are chateau carton of a decent vintage (October?) plus the medicinal hard stuff. Wine glasses are also plastic (easy Craig) but replaced when they start to look ratty. I prefer real glass at home (with a thin rim), but I've pulled enough glass out of the bottom of my feet. Don't want to remove more. Had one 'hospital grade' removal that took 7 stitches - and that glass went through my sneaker! The nerve damage took years to go away. I think of broken glass and my feet and I just kinda pucker up..
No, I'm not 'glass free' on the boat - but close. Some groceries you can only get in glass - but given the choice for the boat I'll take a plastic container. And I have been known to bring aboard a few glass bottles of beer (I've never gotten into beer in cans??). Some memorable times on the boat involve Sam Adams and roasted peanuts (unsalted).
When ashore for dinner, I'll spring for a nice bottle of Malbec (haven't found it yet au carton).
Guess the answer is: Don't keep it, drink it!
