No, not for holding power. For poor timing in Maine. Like pulling our dinghy up 'way far enough' to take a hike on the rising tide. Then com back to find it floating 'way out' beyond reach.
It's nothing that would save you if you were getting washed off shore with a dead outboard or broken oar lock(I have spares for all that), but it gets tied to the dinghy permanently. It's always there in the bow so no reason not to use it when we beach the dink.
That's my wife fishing the little Danforth out of 3' of water in Duck Harbor where we were anchored a couple weeks ago.
