We've got two dinghys, an inflatable and a Porta-Bote. The tiny Bruce worked well for us on our first cruise with the Porta-Bote. For our 2nd cruise (with a teenager aboard this time), we needed a 2nd dinghy. Fortunately, when we bought the Kelly Peterson, it came with an older inflatable. We gave the mushroom anchor that came with it away and got another little Bruce. We use about 6' of either 1/4" or 3/8" (whatever's handy) chain followed by some polypropylene line on each. The chain is to give it a little weight so when the dinghy pulls on it, the pull on the anchor is more horizontal.
