started thinking about all this

Like Gene, my cluster is located up high in what would be a seat back if you could sit there, however the wheel would be in our way. Funny though, in reality there is no need for that key in the switch at all. They could have easily installed a waterproof on/off switch, covered the whole thing with clear lexan and been done with it. A key in my ignition does nothing for security, if you want my boat bad enough all you need to do is open the port cockpit locker which is NOT lockable and reach in. The back of that panel is open and located within and easy arms reach.

Taking water over our transom would not be all that easy, although no doubt could happen. I'm curious, who came up with the open sugar scoop style transom idea for cruising boats then? It seemed like something we really needed when looking for a new boat, but when thinking about it, actually seemed like a bad idea??
