Would need some work since I get a lot of satisfaction from working on my boats. However, it wouldn't need too much. I have been there and done that.
I am partial to the Hinckley Bermuda 40. If you look around you can pick a fixer upper up for not all that much money. Then with a little sweat equity and a few boat dollars (not that a Hinckley boat dollar is $10,000) you can have a like new boat that is strikingly beautiful, built like a tank and a joy to sail.
An alternative is to buy an older boat for next to nothing. Gut it and redo the interior and systems the way you want them. I would be happy with something around 30'.
My final option would be to go to the dark side. If I did that I would look for a comfortable trawler in the 40-45' range. Something that would be roomy enough to live aboard, but not too big to maintain myself
