I talked about putting in a dripless seal with my friend and knowledable sailboat guy, Hank Hinckley, and he said that although he hadn't ever had a problem with one that you do need to replace the bellows now and then. Since that would involve pulling the engine on my boat, I opted to install a shiny new stuffing box.

- A shaft zinc is not a good set collar.
- The only downside of the hose clamp is
- To stop shaft slipping

- How does one inspect these dripless systems?
- A friend just finished PR to Maine, and their 18 month old shaft seal failed.
- US Navy uses them on submarines.
