Yeah, and stay close to Land!

Out cruising I've seen many near disasters because of roller furling mains. One boat pulled into port making such a loud racket with the sail flogging all the rigging. The roller failed and the wrapped the sail around the mast as best they could. Another the bail at the top of the roller failed and the sail and gear banged in the mast 24/7 making anchoring by them quite noisy. They had to pull the mast to fix the bail. When you see companies are now in business that remove the roller furling main setups you know there is a problem with them. In theory they are great. Off shore and for extended cruising.... follow the KISS principal. Keep It Simple Stupid!

Go Slow
Sail Far
Stay Long
