The centerboard and rudder retract fully upward, and will pop up without any more damage than a small ding if we hit something massive (e.g. the bottom). The prop is protected by a skeg.

I worry more when motoring -- We have a serrated cutter on the shaft but try to stay vigilant and avoid anything regardless.
