LOL! I chatted briefly with Mark Pillsbury (editor of CW) aboard the new Hunter 47 in Annapolis...

Hey Doug,

...which appears to be Hunter's response to the Beneteau Sense series... What an ugly POS... (grin)

Mark commented that the response and feedback to Herb's story has been unprecedented, off the charts, and overwhelmingly favorable... Until now, Herb was also responsible for 2 of the editorials during his tenure as Editor that probably generated a similar response, although largely negative: His piece on having guns aboard, in the wake of the death of Sir Peter Blake, and his calling out of President George Bush for his Proclamation about a dozen years ago denying the right of any boat - even non-Americans - against sailing to Cuba...

All I will say here, is that the owner's penchant for hiring guides to take him to the summits of many of the world's most famous mountains, tells you pretty much all you need to know about this venture... If we manage to get together again some evening over a good bottle, Doug, perhaps I can offer a bit more detail... (grin)

So, Doug, when are you gonna upgrade to these sexy Folding Cleats that seem to be all the rage on the new boats today? I first saw them about a decade ago on the Trintellas I used to deliver, stupidest things I've ever seen... Sorry, but deck/mooring cleats should not have "hinges", or "pins"...

Leave it to Hunter to come up with the stupidest version, however, mounted in the stupidest fashion...

I thought the placement of the fuel vent in a manner where it might be a bit more likely to admit rain or seawater was a nice added touch, no? (grin)

best regards,

Jon
