Yes. The base is 3/4" marine fir plywood.

Absolutely. And I've said it before here- FOR SURE when sanding Ipe. It generates a VERY fine dust

Having worked it, I'm not sure why Ipe gets such a bad rap. But it wouldn't have been my first,...
