I might have posted this before, but I came across this image again, of Pleneuf-Val-Andre in the Brittany area of France. Tidal range is about 40 feet, and the harbor entrance is not navigable at low tide. If you're out for a sail you really have to time it right, or you're going to be out for at least half a tide cycle.

I think the stilts on the sailboats are pretty remarkable.
