Didn't quite work out as I would have liked but not entirely unexpected. First off, I picked the boat up, drove it directly to the lake, and launched. She looked tight from the outside but several seams spewed water. The pumps weren't keeping up and after 20 minutes I hauled her out.
Back home I noted that of my 2 1100gpm pumps one was nearly completely clogged and the other not working at all. I don't see how it ever worked as the wiring just doesn't seem to be done right. She's a quality wood boat but the wiring that's been redone is crap.....wires twisted together and taped, etc.
I filled the boat with fresh water hoping to swell her up, will rewire at least the bilge pumps and will clean out the bilge and hope to launch again on Friday evening. I'm hoping it swells up enough so I don't need to haul her again and caulk the seams.
Any advice on that? In one spot the water was really pouring through but it looks okay.....nice and tight. Should I try to stuff caulking or sealant into those problem areas?
