The rim is flat bar with wood inside and out, routed to round.

I am way too faliliar with Petit filler/stain...
And a small point on stains. The darkness of any stain can be controlled
Good tactic, Charlie. What's your experience with bleaching?
I've always use Oxalic Acid in the shop. I buy the crystal form, wet and spread on tough stains
I've had poor luck with bleaching.
