() How about making the spokes out of SS flat bar and cladding them with wood? -- Think tapered table leg ripped down centerline . . with contrasting wood strips down the edges to cover the edges of the SS.
This from a guy with two hand saws, a jigsaw, and a $99 band saw with a broken belt.
