there are two marinas there which share a common breakwater
In Response To: Titusville ... I Think ()

the northern marina is owned by the city of titusville and is dockage only. the southern marina was once privately owned by the nelson family who were pretty nice people and ran a real yard where owners could do all their own work. they sold out to a california company about five years ago, who immediately doubled the slip fees and proceeded with plans to close down the marina and build condos. fortunately the condo market collapsed about that time so the marina is still there - westland marina. the yard manager, rick, is a pretty nice guy and very knowledgeable and the yard is still pretty much do it yourself. the marina manager, john, is also a pretty decent guy.

the bay just to the north of the swing bridge is good holding, mostly mud over sand. both marinas have been somewhat liberal with dinghy docking in the past, don't know what it's like lately. there are usually a dozen or so permanent or semi-permanent liveaboards out there and a number of transients passing through. there is some shopping within walking distance including a small worst marine, drug store, and a super market. there is bus service to a walmart located about ten miles away.

the city marina has a small store on premises where you can buy a few marine supplies, charts, books, and convenience store type food. many cruisers stop here to watch rocket launches from the cape which is only a few miles away.

there was one serious incident here about five years ago.

a large powerboat, somewhat abandoned, had been anchored - very poorly anchored it turned out - at the north end of the bay. about a dozen other boats were anchored south of it including a nicely restored woody. the bay was caught by the edge of a hurricane, the powerboat broke loose and drifted through the anchorage, taking about five boats with it. all of them were washed up against the swing bridge, badly damaged, and sunk - except one, a westsail 32. it took a beating but was rescued, towed into westland and put on the hard. last time i looked it was still being rebuilt by the new owner.

it's a good stop for cruisers, even if just overnight.
