Goo to hear positive report on this major supplier
In Response To: Hmmm... ()

Like any large supplier, reports on service vary. As end users, we have to look at a variety.

You aked about our problems.

Our Xantrex 1000 watt sine wave inverter failed near the end of warranty. Xantrex was willing to replace it but only after receipt of the failed uint. I was about to leave Maine for Europe, and the boat needs the inverter for navigation (I have a spare small one too, but was not keen on leaving without a backup) In nay event, shippong to Europe would have been problemtic.
I suggested that they ship a new one immediately, against my credit card, and refund me when they received the faulty unit. They refused.
I reluctantly bought a new one, since replacing with a different make would have required woodwork I did not have time for.

It is rare for a vendor ot refuse to ship a replacemnt item against a credit card.

Previously, I had a Freedom inverter, (company bought by Xantrex) When I called for tech info on fixing it, they insisted that I take it to an authorised repair centre. They took weeks to offer me a repair cost above the cost of a new unit.

I bought the Xantgrex since I could not find a competitive unit that fit my specs and space available. When calling Xantrex with some tech quesitons, I got a run around, and pushy sales talk from people who were clueless on volts, amps etc.
