I wouldn't think they would be cheaper in Panama -- as you indicated there is a 40 amp model for about $130 that is available and a 100amp model for $180, at the website I cited. It doesn't appear they are made for a permanent marine set up so I question whether they last in that usage, but as you say, even the smaller one can serve as a backup.
