Ferguson tractor liked to go through batteries. I hand started that more than a few times. That will give you a little respect for your own mortality.

My Dad's was a Ferguson, not a Ford Ferguson. It had the regular car sized front tires as opposed to those skinny things. When it was sold at the estate auction, it still had the original tires on it. (apparently the biggest wear on tractor tires is from driving on asphalt and it never drove on asphalt to that point.) I had learned to drive in snow on that thing, skidding pulp across 80 acres of cedar swamp at wide open throttle.
