Don't even think about Raymarine! I've heard service stories, first hand, that would curl your hair. Which is the reason I went with Simrad of late - definitely a better unit (though no tP stands up well to a dunking). I've rebuilt several of these over the years - Parts are still available online and come up on ebay from time to time - any competent electronics repair shop can generally repair the boards and the mechanics are doable by any good shadetree mechanic. Get a plastic sleeve to use on these and avoid 90% of problems. I have both a 30 and 300 here in the Bahamas now and they have worked flawlessly ...that doesn't mean they won't go out on the crossing back over next week.
